Tracking Social Videos with Vidmetrix
Vidmetrix assumes that multiple instances of a video will be hosted in
multiple accounts on multiple websites across the Internet. We call each of these videos a "URL" because
each video can be identified by a unique URL on the video host's website. Our system
is designed to track all of these URLs together as a single "video" to provide you with a complete, overall view of that video's Internet-wide traffic. Vidmetrix is capable of tracking video URLs on 50+ different
video sharing sites (see the list here). Note that you can track any video on these sites, whether it is yours or not. To
properly track a video, you'll want to enter all of the given video's
URLs into Vidmetrix. There are several ways to do this:
1. Click "Enter New Video" in your account. On the next page, enter the name
of the video into the first box, then copy and past the URLs of the video into the second box (one URL per line). Learn more.
2. Add the Vidmetrix bookmarklet to your browser. While visiting the URL
of a video that you wish to track, click the bookmarklet and select
the video's name (or enter a new name). Learn
more.
3. Use Vidmetrix to automatically upload your video to the video
sharing sites for you. Once our system completes the upload it
automatically enters the URLs for you. Learn more.
Once you have entered the URLs of a video, our patent-pending analytics
system will scan and save the views, comments, favorites, rating, and blog links
for each URL every 3-6 hours. When you log into your account and view a video, Vidmetrix will
display the aggregate data for all of the URLs entered for that given
video.
Tracking Embedded Videos with Vidmetrix
Vidmetrix offers you the ability to track where your video is embedded,
it's traffic on each embedding site, and it's engagement (play-through length) on
each site. To use this feature, you will need to upload your video to
Vidmetrix via our uploader and then use our embedded player HTML code to
embed your video. Learn more here. |
